Another good day for the club on Saturday at the final round of the Shrewsbury circuit races with Sean again taking 3rd place.

The sun shine and not much wind brought out a big field of 74 riders for the final round and the big field combined with the narrow circuit made for a very fast and much more dangerous race. Just the 3 Ystwyth riders this week, Sean Grosvenor, Kev Jones and Michael Tarling although they all got into the thick of the action.

Michael tried the usual early move and had 3 laps of the front in a group of 3 but it came back together pretty rapidly. Loads of attacks as the race wore on but none getting more than a few hundred metres.

The final 2 laps were carnage with loads of pushing and shoving which of course Ystwyth got stuck into!

Final lap and Seanie made a brave / crazy move on the outside of the bends and by a tyre’s width managed to stay on the circuit. He was then in a great position for the sprint and held onto take 3rd place.

Michael got boxed in on the final hairpin and finished with Kev in what was left of the bunch.

Not bad for the 3 rounds with the club getting 2 x 3rd place, 1 x 5th place, 1 x 7th place and 1 x 10th place

An appeal from the club for all competitors who are riding the first time trial this week to ARRIVE early as we are expecting a large entry for this first event. Riders are requested to be signed on and ready by 6.15pm

Just a reminder for all club members to please try to keep Sunday May 10th free for helping with one of only three road races held in mid wales in 2009.
The club needs minimum 15 marshalls and 5 officials to help te event take place. The race will start at midday from Llanfarian and we should all be finished by 3.30pm.
