30th April 2009
Despite a last minute change of course, this weeks TT was again well attended with some serious looking machinery on display. Danny took the win in tough blustery conditions on the outward leg from a clutch of riders in the 24′s. Mark Hammonds time of 24.47 should be noted as this was done without the aid of tri-bars, and it was also nice to see youngsters Gruff & Emyr competing. Lots of new faces again, some of whom I can’t put a name to just yet so apologies there. There were PB’s from Gari Jones, Jeff Saycell, Derek & Dewi Rattray, Matt Camm & Rosie Shoesmith so well done to them on such a tough evening.

23rd April 2009
It was more of the same from the super fast veteran Danny Thorogood who showed that getting old need not be a hindrance when it comes to athletic prowess. The 47 year old gave an inspired ride on another windy evening to win the event by over two minutes from Shelley Childs with another 32 riders behind, showing that the series for local cyclists to test themselves against the watch is proving a big hit in 2009.
Paul Brewer moved into a podium position for the first time with 25.26 and there were strong rides amongst the personal battles that were happening out on the course. Derek Rattrey & Andy Eden fought over the 31 minute mark and in the 29’s it was Owen Thomas getting the better of Barry Morgan, Dewi Rattray & Sam Robertson. Bets 28 minute time was Dai Clarke ahead of Rob Scullion and three other riders, and best 27 min time was a battle of Goginan with Andy Davies beating stable mate Colin Armstrong.
Plenty of riders made the 26 minute mark with Euros Jones continuing his rise to win with 26.08 ahead of others including student Rhys Thomas.
With Shelley Childs leading the 25 minute men it was left to Danny Thorogood to win the event outright with a fantastic 22.44.
