Next Tywyn 10 mile time trial

There is a new 10 mile TT course registered with CTT and Dysynni CC will be holding club events on it on Thurs 20th Aug. Should be of interest to all Ystwyth TT’ers for a bit of a change. Nice course, but not superfast. The start is situated (see attached) a few yards before the Cemmaes village sign on the A470, south of Cemmaes. Proceed north through Cemmaes village (with care) and again care through Cwmllinau, to Mallwyd island (4.9 miles). Take 4th exit (encircle island) and retrace A470 (care through Cemmaes to finish opposite start south of Cemmaes as shown on photo. Sign on at start – Cemmaes Road (first left after roundabout towards Malllwyd) by 6.30.

New Club Clothing / Club Meeting on Monday night

Some members of the club are keen for a new design of the current club clothing. This will be the main topic of this months meeting at the Arts Centre upstairs bar, 7.30pm on Monday 10th August. Anyone interested in submitting a design or to voice their opinion should attend.

General thoughts are that the current Impsport clothing is a) too expensive and b) not the correct green! Obviously some members have just paid for this clothing and so discussions need to made on whether the club will assist in subsidising the next batch of clothing. The new designs will need to be voted upon via the website, as well as keeping the current design. A new manufacturer needs to be sought and an order placed asap to ensure supply before next season. We also need a volunteer to coordinate all this, hence the meeting on Monday!

Ystwyth Autumn Road Race

Despite a clash with Clive Powells Cambrian Sportif, we are hoping that Ystwyth members will come out and support the clubs second open road race of the year on September 6th either by riding or assisting with marshalling and stewarding? We always struggle to provide enough cover, and this race is one of only three open road races in mid wales these days. Any help gratefully received. Please make yourself know to organiser Leif Skot through emails or at the time trials leif.skot@bbsrc.ac.uk

The race is for 2/3/4 category riders, starting at midday from Penparcau and finishing at Southgate, having completed 4 laps of the usual Pontrhydygroes course then up through Devils Bridge – 60 miles.

Pembs Velo Weekend

The annual Pembroke time trial weekend is again upon us, with a 10 mile TT and a 1 mile hillclimb on Sunday 30th August with a 15mile TT on Monday bank holiday (31st). This is as much a social occasion as a race weekend, with camping  available near the race starts. Last year, a crowd of Ystwyth members went down to Carew and had a great time, despite the rain!

Anyone wishing to attend needs to enter the races by using an entry form (one for each event) (attached) and posting to :

Colin Jackson, 39 Whitehall Drive, Pembroke, SA71 4QS

Anyone needing help with the form or for help with finding the camp site info should ask Paul Jones or Kim Jones or any of the regular racers (Andy Hunt, Danny, Robbo etc) for help at the next club TT

Results

Anyone competing in open events (and sportifs) and who wants a mention in the paper needs to get info (&pics) to me (Shelley@cambriantyres.co.uk) asap after the event. I do scan results if I think someone has raced, but can easily miss stuff if not reminded from time to time ;-)
