Result of Lovesgrove Time Trial 21/7/10

22nd July 2010

Ystwyth CC Time Trial, Cwmrheidol, 10 miles. 21st July, 2010
conditions: no rain but wet road surface, little wind, warm
Another slew of pbs on a reasonable night. Surprising to many was the appearance of Andy Bakewell’s Brompton folding bike…more surprising to even more was his long 28! Andy is a regular competitor at the Brompton World Championships held annually at Blenheim Palace – a Roberto Heras, Lance’s one-time lieutenant is a previous winner.

Jade 5th in Elite/1/2 race in Suffolk

19th July 2010

On a sunny warm but breezy morinig just under 40 riders set out to complete the Velo Club Baracchi Beccles Road Race.

This was set on the picturesque Somerleyton course, a last minute course change due to policing issues on the tradtional Ringsfield-based course. The race was just under 80 miles and covered the St.Olaves/Somerleyton/Blundeston/Lound circuit just under 9 times.

The pace was frnatic from the start and so much so that Joe Skipper – Team Zappi (VCB 2nd-claim member) snapped his chain and was unable to continue. On the brighter side he was due to head up north and take part in a Premier Calendar race but opted for a local race after a cold and spared himself some petrol money!

Ex-member Simon Asher instigated the first break of the day on the first lap gaining some 40 secs with Matt Seaton. This was nearly caught but another rider bridged across and drove the trio out to 1min 20 secs at one point. A 20-man chase brought them back with 3 laps to go and it stayed together for the rest of the race. The bunch sprint was led out by, and won by Luke Ryan – Team Toachim from Canterbury, Kent.
